About Us

Our Mission: Transparency and Healing

Westminster Abbey and the Seminary of Christ the King are committed to transparency, accountability, and healing following the profoundly harmful abuse perpetrated at the Minor Seminary of Christ the King by Placidus Sander, a priest and monk of Westminster Abbey.

The Minor Seminary Transparency Initiative stands as a permanent public record, established beyond the scope of legal obligations. It represents our steadfast commitment to supporting victim/survivors of abuse and acknowledges their courage in coming forward. This initiative provides vital information, resources, and support while recognizing victim/survivors' essential role in strengthening our safeguarding protocols and institutional practices.

Documents

Joint Statement, Released Files & Accompanying Documents

A Joint Statement has been released by Westminster Abbey, The Seminary of Christ the King, and the Archdiocese of Vancouver. As part of a legal settlement, we have made public all files pertaining to Placidus Sander. Additional context is available through the following documents: a Tribute to Victim/Survivors and Current Monk Status Report.

In releasing these files, we demonstrate our commitment to transparency and healing. We extend our deepest apologies to all victim/survivors who endured this abuse.

Safe Environment

Reporting Abuse & Policies

Our paramount commitment is ensuring the safety of every individual in our care. Westminster Abbey and the Seminary of Christ the King have implemented comprehensive safeguarding protocols meeting Praesidium's rigorous standards and established a confidential reporting line to ensure a safe, supportive environment where concerns can be shared without fear.

To anyone carrying the weight of unspoken experiences: we are here to listen when you feel ready to speak. Your healing journey and personal timeline take precedence over any institutional concerns.
