Prayer Requests
The Power of Intercessory Prayer and Acts of Reparation
The wounds inflicted by sexual abuse and misconduct, particularly when perpetrated by those entrusted with spiritual guidance, run devastatingly deep. While prayer alone cannot erase the past, it can provide solace for the wounded spirit – a sanctuary in times of turmoil, a light in darkness, and a reminder of divine presence. However, prayer must stand alongside concrete action and accountability.
To those whose relationship with God has been fractured by clergy abuse: Your experiences are valid. Your pain is real. You are not alone on this journey, and healing is possible. Though trust has been shattered, know that the face of God remains one of love, mercy, and justice.
Westminster Abbey and Seminary of Christ the King are committed to offering prayers of reparation for the sins of abuse, especially those perpetrated by clergy. We open our hearts to all who have been harmed. Your intentions, if you choose to share them, will be held with reverence by our monastic community in our daily prayers. In prayer, we seek to nurture healing and work toward a world where such betrayals of trust can never happen again.
Even in our darkest moments, may we find strength in our shared journey toward healing, sustained by prayer, compassion, and the enduring presence of divine love.
