Placidus Sander
“Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute. Speak out, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy” (Proverbs 31:8-9). A voice for the voiceless, a champion of the oppressed. So speaks the wisdom of Proverbs. In this spirit, Westminster Abbey and the Seminary of Christ the King are committed to transparency and healing. We acknowledge the profound wounds inflicted by past abuse and offer our deepest regret to all victim/survivors.
As a tangible step towards reconciliation and accountability, we are releasing the files of Placidus Sander, a monk and priest credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors. These files contain:
- Personal letters and documents describing incidents of abuse
- Medical and psychological records
- Legal documents and testimony
- Descriptions of institutional responses to abuse allegations
This content may be distressing, particularly for victim/survivors of sexual abuse. Please prioritize your well-being when deciding whether to view these materials.
If you need support while reviewing these documents:
- Our Victim/Survivor Assistance Coordinator, Kristin Austin, is available at (443) 462-7787 or [email protected]
- You may pause or stop reading at any time
- Consider having a trusted friend, family member, or counselor available for support
These files are being released in service of transparency and healing, and to validate the experiences of victim/survivors.
